Lana Powell was born and grew up just outside Boston, Massachusetts. She then attended Stetson University in DeLand, Florida. She graduated from Stetson with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration and a Master’s Degree in Business Administration. She is licensed as a CPA in Florida.

As a Professor of Business at Valencia she has taught : Basic Accounting, Financial Accounting, Managerial Accounting, Income Tax Accounting, Small Business Management, Business Math, and Introduction to Business. She currently teaches Business Math and Introduction to Business. She has also been on the faculty of University of Central Florida and Orange County Public Schools.

During the Spring semester 2008 she was The Visiting Professor of International Business at Koning Willem College1 in the Netherlands. Recent recognitions include: Bank of America Chair in Business Management 2007, and John and Florence MacLeod Chair in Business 2006.

Lana is married and has 3 children and 2 grandchildren. Her hobbies include: hiking, gardening, traveling, and finding bargains. As a hiker she has accomplished three fourteeners (hiked to 14,000 feet) and climbed to the bottom of the Grand Canyon twice. She has also hiked portions of The Appalachian Trail and other trails in the continental US and Hawaii.
